Decorating a Small Patio: Tips and Tricks
Even us with those small outdoor spaces, like apartment balconies, have options to fully customize the limited space.
It might sound cliché, but save your space: Those who have a small patio or balcony know the struggle when it comes to finding a beautiful piece of furniture that fits AND is cheap. Almost impossible! I suggest finding a couch or chair that you love, worry about the cushions later. You can make your own cushions for cheap using weather resistant fabric, staples, stuffing, and some plywood.
Starting with vertical furniture: A great way to incorporate your style without taking up too much space. Vertical furniture examples are shelves (mounted), plants, lamps/lighting, and decorations. Adding some plants and flowers with color is a great and easy way to liven up the space.
Another great way is multi-functional furniture; example is a table that has storage under the lid, or small chairs/couches that fold out into larger pieces. Maybe your plants have a hidden light in them for night time, or your outdoor table is also a fireplace.
Add some color: Your outdoor space is all about what is best for you. Finding the sweet spot for accent colors is the cherry on top of a perfect balcony. If you have a comfy couch, maybe a cozy blanket is an appropriate accessory.
